Every paver job is hundreds of small units and hundreds of metres of joints. The joints are where the water has to go, and where the sinking, spreading and weeds happen.
Permeable concrete is one continuous pour. The rain goes through the surface itself, everywhere, and there are no joints to fail.
Where the water actually goes
A paver system drains only at the joints, and only while they stay clean, sanded and level. Permeable concrete drains across 100 per cent of its surface because the voids run through the material itself.
That is 130 to 170 litres per minute, per square metre. A summer downpour disappears into the slab instead of pooling on top of it.

I was searching for pavers. Why am I reading about permeable concrete?+
Because both solve the same drainage problem and most people only get told about one of them. If your area is big enough for a poured slab, comparing the two before you order pavers costs nothing: we visit, look at the site and give you a real figure. If pavers genuinely suit your job better, we will tell you that too.
When would you tell me to buy pavers instead?+
Three honest cases: small areas like a courtyard or short path, where a batched pour and crew are not justified; jobs you want to do yourself, because pavers are a genuine DIY product and permeable concrete is not; and surfaces that need lifting for regular service access, because units lift and relay.
How does the drainage actually compare?+
Permeable concrete drains across its whole surface because the voids are in the material, commonly 130 to 170 litres per minute per square metre. A paver system drains through the joints between units, so its performance depends on that small open area staying clean and topped up.
